"Please receive medicine in lane 1" is a familiar phrase that represents hope when our body needs medicine during times of weakness. However, the phrase has also been used humorously, which led to the creation of the LUKYANG CLINIC project. In today's fast-paced world, people in cities have become stressed and erratic, leading to various societal problems. Research from various institutions, such as Princeton University, shows that planting trees can help calm the mind. In this case, LUKYANG, an environmentally conscious designer, will act as a traveling doctor distributing capsules of tree seeds to everyone. Through a digital platform, everyone can answer five questions to find the tree seed capsule that best suits their needs. This not only takes care of everyone's mental health but also helps the environment by planting more trees.
When convenience is available to everyone, food waste and excess packaging become a growing problem. Part of this is caused by a lack of understanding by consumers, who are unaware that products and leftovers may still be reused for good value. Towards reducing the amount of household waste and energy consumption for recycling, "Waste Po-Cha-na" was initiated. Street food vendors are selling knowledge on how to reuse waste materials and an art exhibition will depict a "menu" of dishes made from food waste to reflect how the excess is caused by everyone. Each "menu item" will feature a QR Code introducing restaurants in the festival offering the dishes so they may be enjoyed by participants in Bangkok Design Week viz New Heang Ki , Wuatong Pochana , The Never Ending Summer , F.V , Valse studio and JoJo soba (cafe)
As the world today becomes more environmentally conscious, living with the environment or reducing household waste creatively is a small matter that can help save the world.
“Home Economy” is another science that everyone can do by themselves with household equipment because it is the wisdom of local people who use the environment around them to their advantage and create things, food, and other inventions. This is the basic human nature that has been used to live with the environment for a long time. However, at present, some of this knowledge has been forgotten, such as making glue from tapioca flour or what is called “wet flour glue”. This wisdom can be further adapted to suit the current era, such as:
- Using expired coffee or flowers to make paint for children to use.
- Using grass or cut flower scraps to make gift wrapping paper.
- Using fallen flowers to make scented candles.
- Using leftover paper to make things with various techniques, such as paper mache.
